What is the main difference between a crossover and an SUV?

The primary difference lies in their construction. A crossover is built on a unibody platform, similar to a car, which integrates the body and frame into one piece. This typically results in a lighter vehicle with a smoother ride and better fuel efficiency. A traditional SUV is built using a body-on-frame construction, where the body is mounted on a separate steel frame, similar to a truck. This design is often more rugged and better for heavy-duty towing.

Are used crossovers reliable vehicles?

Yes, many used crossovers are known for their reliability. We prioritize stocking models from manufacturers with strong reputations for durability and longevity. Furthermore, every vehicle on our lot undergoes a thorough inspection process to assess its mechanical condition and safety. We are happy to provide vehicle history reports to give you additional peace of mind about your purchase.

Do I need all-wheel drive (AWD) on my crossover in East Lyme?

While not strictly necessary, an all-wheel drive (AWD) system is a highly recommended feature for driving in Connecticut. AWD provides superior traction on wet, snowy, or icy roads, enhancing safety and control during the winter months. It can also improve handling on dry pavement. We carry a wide selection of both front-wheel drive (FWD) and AWD crossovers to suit your preference and budget.

Can I trade in my current car even if I still owe money on it?

Yes, you can absolutely trade in a vehicle that has an outstanding loan. Our finance team will work with you to handle the process. We will determine the value of your trade-in and contact your current lender to get the payoff amount. The value of your trade-in can then be applied toward the purchase of your next vehicle. You can start by using our online value my trade tool to get an estimate.

What should I look for when test-driving a used crossover?

During a test drive, pay attention to how the vehicle handles, brakes, and accelerates. Listen for any unusual noises from the engine or suspension. Make sure you are comfortable in the driver's seat and that you have good visibility. Test out the electronics, like the infotainment system and climate control, to ensure everything is working correctly. We encourage you to schedule a test drive to experience any crossover you are interested in firsthand.
